Daliya in court on Thursday
A managing director is claiming RM1 million from his ex-fiancee who he says had deceived him and was immoral, resulting in their engagement being called off.
Plaintiff Mohamad Fahizul Khairi, 53, got engaged with Nor Daliya Mohd Daud, 34, on Dec 6, 2007 in Pekan, Pahang.
The mother of two was divorced from Herman Syah Abdul Rahim in January that year (She is at present married to another person).
Fahizul claims that he spent a lot of money on the engagement and on Daliya.
After they planned to get engaged, Daliya asked him to buy her a house for them to live in when they eventually got married.
On April 3 2007, Fahizul bought a two-and-half-storey house in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya in her name.
He claims that she deceived him and had been doing immoral things, causing them to quarrel constantly after their engagement.

On April 21 last year, less than five months after they got engaged, Daliya agreed to call the whole thing off after discussing the matter with Fahizul and both their family members. They also agreed to return whatever gifts that were exchanged during the engagement.
The case, which Fahizul filed on May 8 this year, was mentioned in the court Thursday, with Judge Mohamad Adib Husain fixing Feb 1 for a decision.
But Daliya’s lawyer Mohamad Isa Abd Ralip told mStar that the warring parties would try to negotiate and come to a settlement out of court.
Fahizul is seeking compensation of RM871,186.57 for the failed engagement and RM100,000 in defamatory compensation.
It is understood that the claim involves RM570,000 Fahizul spent for the engagement, RM208,594 for home renovation and household goods, RM15,500 property agent fees, RM20,000 down-payment for the defendant’s new Honda Civic car, and RM57,092.57 remittances into the bank and credit card accounts of the defendant.
The defamatory compensation is for alleged embarrassment Fahizul faced among his family members and friends.
Fahizul claims that as a result of Daliya’s deception, he had experienced problems with many of his family members including his wife Siti Zabiha.
Daliya attended the proceedings with her husband while Fahizul was accompanied by of all people, Daliya’s former husband Herman Syah.
