Hemp

By: Dragon

Marijuana is pretty much illegal everywhere. Ever thought to wonder why?

It's a pretty similar story to the electric car.

Hemp can be used to make:

Plastics - biodegradable too

Paper - 4.1x as efficient as trees

Clothing - durable, the fibers are stronger than that of wood

Fuel

Food - the seeds contain lots of protein and two essential fatty acids that clean out cholesterol and can barely be found elsewhere in nature.

It also has a massive carbon absorbency rate, can be grown nearly anywhere & reaches maturity in a matter of months.

People have argued (and it's very disputable) that hemp could:

Make America energy independent

Solve world hunger

Help curb carbon emissions

So why is it illegal?

Historically:

As has been evident throughout history, many people with power curb the world to best assist themselves.

Harry Anslinger was appointed director of a division of the US Treasury Department called the Bureau of Narcotics in 1930 by his uncle in law named Andrew Mellon. Anslinger was an avid racist, and pot was known to be associated with blacks and hispanics. He built a great deal of his campaign on marijuana's use amongst what he considered the 'degenerate races'. So, personal career advancement was a big motive for him, but wait, there's more..

Andrew Mellon; who appointed him his position, was a primary investor in Dupont, a company that had just patented a method of making various plastics. Making cannabis illegal would rule out the competition for companies like Dupont, because this would mean making hemp illegal as well. The image pot had developed in the media due in part to folks like Anslinger was a facade based on racism and circumstantial evidence with no scientific or medical substantiation that would serve the purposes of corporate greed.

Anslinger's campaign was also supported by William Randolph Hearst, who owned a chain of newspapers that were printed on paper supplied by the hundreds of acres of timber forests he owned. His paper empire was threatened by hemp and its ability to produce as much paper in 1 acre as 4.1 acres of trees are capable of, so his motives are pretty obvious. It is also important to note that the racist, sensationalist articles he published in his newspapers that demonized marijuana helped him sell papers. Tarnishing the name and legal status of marijuana and in turn removing hemp from his competition was an extremely profitable endeavour for this guy.

Right Now:

Arguably hemp is a superior candidate to almost every resource our society runs on, which isn't exactly a favorable quality in the perspective of let's say, oil-tycoons. Not to mention alcohol and tobacco corporations (holding politicians in their pockets) would also lose profits due to the availability of a much cheaper substitute.

The fact that marijuana is illegal really has virtually nothing to do with its psychoactive properties, aside from perhaps the fact that its users feel it has medicinal effects and it would be too cheap and easy (given its adaptive, un-patented & durable nature) an alternative for people to buying pills.

It won't happen. The big wigs have too much money on the line. They allow very few clinical tests and a fear has been incited into the minds of the general public. But maybe.... Maybe hemp could save the world.

Don't Throw Away Your One Cent Coins

We cannot stop mosquitoes lay eggs at any stagnant water in drains/ponds or water collected in waste pails, tanks, tins, used tyres etc. etc.  Of course if you have fish inside the tanks/containers then there should be no problem.

Do you know that there is a very simple and very economical way to destroy the mosquitoes' eggs and not let them hatch into larvae.  Very very simple, just put in few 1 cent copper coins into the tanks/containers then it will solve all your problems. Because in accordance to Japanese Research Scientists, they found the mosquitoes eggs will be destroyed by a kind of mineral discharge from the copper.

DON'T BELIEVE, Try it by yourself and even the small snails also will not visit the containers (with copper coins) collected with stagnant water.  Your will observe the water collected in the containers will be very clean and clear.

Parking attendant declared bankrupt

KUALA LUMPUR: A parking attendant, who claimed that her stolen identity card was used to buy a Toyota Estima car, was declared bankrupt Tuesday after Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad sued her for failing to settled the car loan.

Halimaton Din, 41, a mother of five, who could not afford the services of a lawyer, cried outside the court after the order was made.

She told reporters that senior assistant registrar made the order in chambers after disallowing a further postponement of the case and advised her to engage counsel.

Counsel Mohamad Fahmi Mat Radzi, for Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, said the bank filed the debtors petition against Halimaton to recover the RM167,170.11 owed as of Feb 19, 2008.

The claim was for the purchase of a Toyota Estima 2.4, which Halimaton, who works at KL Sentral, said was bought by someone else using her stolen identity card.

Halimaton said a lawyer whom she contacted earlier wanted a fee of RM400 to handle the case but she could not afford it.

On Dec 18, 2007, she lodged a report at the Kajang district police station stating that her name had been used to buy a car and that she had been sued although she did not even have a driving licence. Her plight was highlighted in the mainstream media on Oct 24 last year.

Take off your bra at the bar for free drinks

A NIGHTCLUB in Singapore is offering free drinks to women according to the cup size of their bra, reports China Press.

The OverEasy nightclub came out with the idea to attract customers by organising the event themed “Fill My Cups.”

It is said that those with A cup would get one free drink while those with B cup would get two glasses.

Those who wore C cup would receive three drinks.

Women with D cup would be given a bottle of alcoholic drink worth S$168 (RM408).

The daily said the “special offer” has drawn mixed reactions with some seeing it as a creative marketing gimmick while others felt offended and said they would not support such an event.

> The daily and Sin Chew Daily also reported that a Singaporean businessman was brutally murdered in Thailand when he refused to pay a sex worker, who was also his mistress.

Teoh Ah Hui, 65, was found with his penis and anus severely injured in a paddy field at Sriracha.

It is said that the 29-year-old woman, who was working as a sex worker at the Health Recreational Park had charged 600 baht (RM60) per night to feed her two husbands who allegedly killed Teoh.

The two suspects and woman were sleeping together until she met Teoh two months ago and became his mistress.

It is learnt that the woman found out that Teoh had earlier given another one of his mistresses 15,000 baht (RM1,500) to go on an overseas holiday and became jealous.
