Bullying video goes viral

PETALING JAYA: A video clip depicting students being involved in yet another bullying case is going viral on Facebook, drawing anger from netizens.

The five-minute video clip which was taken in a dorm and believed to be in a boarding school, showed a group of boys being beaten up by their schoolmates.

However, there were no details on where the incident took place and who involved in the clip, which has been shared more than 8,000 times since it was uploaded by user Zuraimi Ngah on Nov 2.

At the beginning of the clip, 9 boys were seen lining up obediently before one of them was kicked by another boy who was physically bigger.

A few others then joined the fray, but one boy who was wearing a black singlet was seen more aggressive than the rest.

He was seen kicking, punching and shoving the weaker boys who were seen too afraid to retaliate.

At one point, one of the bullied boys was heard sobbing and the boy in the black singlet pushed him to the ground and then said, "why are you crying?" before kicking him in the face.

He also punched the others in the stomach, causing them to fall and groans were heard.

The video went on showing the stronger ones hitting the weaker ones until the bullies coolly walked away from the victims.

There have been several bullying and ragging cases involving school children especially those in boarding school or asrama in the past year.

Other boarding institutions such as the National Service training programme were also not spared.

An 18-year-old was bludgeoned to death last year, in a camp in Pahang for allegedly cutting a queue during breakfast.

A video depicting a schoolgirl being brutally set upon by a group of female schoolmates had also gone viral last June, and had become the subject of police investigation.
